Deadline for submitting RTE admission files extended until April 27

Parents can submit documents until April 27 whose children have been pre-selected for admission to private schools aided under the Right to Education Quota (RTE). Previously, the last date was April 20. However, following the parents’ request, it was extended until April 27 at Panvel taluka.

Last month, parents had received messages regarding the selection of lottery applications for pre-primary and first class admission to private schools in the city under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Over 26,836 applications were received for 2,220 places available at 110 schools. Over 2,000 applications were removed due to inadequate details or multiple applications.

Verification of student documents is in progress. “Selected applicants have already received text messages on their registered mobile number, and on the given date, they would come to the center to check the documents,” a Panvel Panchayat official said.

According to officials, over the past four days, more than 700 parents have already submitted documents which are being reviewed. Students must submit proof of residency, guardian’s income certificate, caste certificate, physical disability certificate if anyone is seeking admission under this quota, and residents living in rental accommodation must submit a copy of the rental contract as proof of residence.
